SDA Celebrates Completion of Addition/Renovation to Millville High School

MILLVILLE, NJ – The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) joined Millville School District officials and students today for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the addition/renovation project at Millville High School. Millville students now have access to approximately 230,000 square-feet of additions and more than 55,000 square-feet of renovations and alterations to the existing building following the completion of this multi-phase project.

“The completion of this addition/renovation project delivers on SDA’s commitment to provide Millville students with an educational facility and resources to help make them college and career-ready,” said SDA CEO Manuel Da Silva. “I am confident that the students and staff will be energized by the new and renovated spaces now available at Millville High School as a result of this project.”

“Today is a momentous occasion as we gather to celebrate a new era at Millville High School,” said Tony Trongone, Millville Superintendent. “This project delivers a fresh start at this school - one that reflects the evolving needs of our students and will provide a thorough and efficient education. Thank you to the Schools Development Authority and the contractors responsible for the construction of this project.”

The new auditorium was the most recent addition completed at the school in 2023. The two-story connector was also delivered in 2023 and included two art studios, a broadcasting/production studio and three small group instructional rooms.

The North Addition, delivered in 2021, included a gymnasium, locker rooms, a weight room, a fitness room, a dance studio, a ROTC Classroom, five general classrooms, eight science labs, five Small Group Instructional Rooms, chemistry labs, guidance offices, a health care lab, and a horticultural center.

The West addition, delivered in 2020, included a student cafeteria, faculty dining room, full service kitchen, two culinary arts labs, 32 classrooms, eight Small Group Instruction rooms, two self-contained Special Education classrooms, and a life skills classroom.

Construction activities for this project were completed in four phases to allow the Millville School District to continue to utilize the existing facility as construction progressed. To facilitate this project phasing throughout the project, existing and temporary facilities were utilized as swing space by students and staff. This project was constructed using a design-build approach. This method differs from the traditional approach in that SDA contracts with one firm for both the design and construction of a school facility project.

Hall Construction was the design-build contractor working in partnership with Paulus, Sokolowski & Sartor Engineering on the design. The project was managed by GREYHAWK, LLC. The total estimated SDA project cost for the addition/renovation project at the school is more than $140 million.

The SDA had previously invested approximately $55 million in completed projects in Millville since the inception of the school construction program, not including the high school project.
