MILLVILLE, NJ –The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) joined Millville School District Superintendent Tony Trongone to tour the newest addition to the Millville Senior High School. Millville students now have access to a 100,000 square foot addition to the North side of the facility that was delivered this Fall. Last year, the SDA delivered an approximately 90,000 square-foot addition to the West side of the facility.

"This Fall, the SDA has delivered on its commitment to the Millville community with the opening of another addition to the Millville Senior High School," said SDA CEO Manuel Da Silva. "As this addition/renovation project progresses, students and educators gain access to innovative and modern educational spaces that will foster excellence in Millville students. We appreciate the continued partnership we share with the Millville School District, which has been paramount in the staging and construction of this multi-phase project to provide this community with a 21st century educational infrastructure."

There is so much excitement in beginning a new school year," said Millville Superintendent Tony Trongone. "The renovations to the Millville Senior High just adds to that excitement and provides our students with a state of the art learning environment. The Millville community appreciates all that the Schools Development Authority has provided and will continue to provide our students upon completion of this project. The mission of the Millville Board of Education is to be the highest performing school district in Cumberland County. This project will play a prominent part of attaining that status."

The North Addition, delivered this year, includes a gymnasium, locker rooms, a weight room, a fitness room, a dance studio, a ROTC Classroom, 5 general classrooms, 8 science labs, 5 Small Group Instructional (SGI) Rooms, chemistry labs, guidance offices, a health care lab, and a horticultural center. The West addition, delivered in 2020, included a student cafeteria, faculty dining room, full service kitchen, 2 culinary arts labs, 32 classrooms, 8 SGI rooms, 2 self-contained Special Education classrooms, and a life skills classroom.

Once complete, in Fall 2022, the multi-phase addition/renovation project at the Millville Senior High School will result in approximately 230,000 square-feet of additions, and more than 55,000 square feet of renovations and alterations to the existing building.

The SDA advanced this project as a multi-phase project to allow the Millville School District to continue to utilize the existing facility throughout construction activities. Throughout the project, existing and temporary facilities have been utilized as swing space by students and staff. This project is being constructed using a design-build approach. This method differs from the traditional approach in that SDA contracts with one firm for both the design and construction of a school facility project.

Hall Construction is the design-build contractor, and is working in partnership with Paulus, Sokolowski & Sartor Engineering on the design. The project is managed by GREYHAWK, LLC. The total estimated SDA project cost for the addition/renovation project at the school is $145 million.

The SDA has invested approximately $55 million in completed projects in Millville alone since the inception of the school construction program, not including the ongoing high school project.
