NEW JERSEY SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ADVANCES ADVERTISEMENT OF GENERAL
CONTRACTOR SERVICES FOR THE PORT MONMOUTH ROAD SCHOOL PROJECT IN KEANSBURG
July 3, 2019 – Trenton, NJ – The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) has issued an advertisement for General Contractor services for the construction of an addition/renovation of the Port Monmouth Road School in Keansburg.
The scope of work includes: 1) the new construction of a 27,580 square foot addition consisting of Pre-K classrooms, Small Group Instruction rooms, a food service area, Child Study Team offices, Nurse’s area, Parent Community Room, and support spaces; and 2) the renovation of 18,930 square feet of the existing structure including reconfiguring the existing building to include: new Pre-K Classroom Gross Motor Area and Occupational/Physical Therapy Space; Main Office; Teacher Dining Room; and support spaces. The renovation will also address code related deficiencies and provide upgrades including a new mechanical system, electrical and plumbing system and new fire suppression system.

"The Port Monmouth Road School project will give Pre-K students a dedicated and upgraded facility where they can thrive. This is a companion project to the Joseph C. Caruso School – a Kindergarten to 5th Grade school – that SDA opened in 2016. The renovation and addition to the Port Monmouth Road School will result in an approximately 46,500 square foot facility designed to educate 315 Pre-Kindergarten students. Currently, these Pre-K students are being educated in temporary trailers across from the Caruso School site.

The construction cost estimate for the addition and renovation project is between $18 million and $22 million.
Since inception – including the Port Monmouth Road project – the SDA will have invested approximately $80 million in active and completed projects in the Keansburg School District.
