New Jersey Schools Development Authority Issues Advertisement of General Construction Services Task Order for Chancellor Avenue Elementary School in Newark


APRIL 18, 2019 – PASSAIC, NJ – The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) announced the issuance of an advertisement for an emergent repair project at the new Chancellor Avenue Elementary School in Newark.

"The SDA is committed to improving the educational infrastructure throughout New Jersey's 31 SDA Districts which includes Newark," said SDA CEO Lizette Delgado Polanco. "The Chancellor Avenue Elementary School emergent repair project will address much needed repairs that will make the school safer for students. This work is advertised pursuant to the New Jersey Schools Development Authority's existing General Construction Services Task Order Contract, Contract No. GP-0231-C01, and constitutes a Task Order scope of work pursuant to that Contract. Existing GCTO firms who are interested in participating in this procurement must attend the mandatory pre-bid conference on April 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chancellor Avenue Elementary School located at 321 Chancellor Avenue in Newark.

Bids are due by May 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm at which time they will be publicly opened.

The construction cost estimate for the emergent repair at the Chancellor Avenue Elementary School is between $498,887 and $577,647. Since inception, the SDA has invested more than $760 million in completed projects in the City of Newark.

The SDA's Emergent Project Program addresses emergent conditions in SDA District facilities, often extending the useful life of school buildings so that students continue to have an appropriate place in which to learn.

Emergent projects are those deemed necessary by the state Department of Education in SDA Districts due to potential health and safety issues. The Emergent Project Program provides assistance to SDA District school facilities in need of repair and rehabilitation. Emergent projects address water infiltration issues and include the repair or replacement of roofs, windows, exterior masonry, heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and security systems. The SDA fully funds emergent projects in the 31 SDA Districts.
