This project consisted of all work required for the construction of the new Public School No. 29 to house grades pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8, as well as demolition of a wood-framed structure on the site. The total square footage for the new facility is approximately 119,200 square feet. The school capacity is approximately 750 students. The three-story building complements the existing architecture character of this area of the city. The project provides appropriate space for 42 instructional classrooms, including Special Education, athletic facilities, support programs, technology upgrades, and community activities. A playground area was designed above the underground parking garage. Site improvements include a parent drop off area, bus area, delivery access, security and fencing around the entire property. The environment provides a friendly, inviting building and is designed to accommodate the needs of students as they relate to the District’s Educational Program, as well as community members when they use the recreational areas. The school opened January 3, 2006. Thomas Associates of Princeton, NJ is the Architect of Record for this project.
