The Victor Mravlag Elementary School project included the demolition of the exisiting school and construction of a new 80,164 square-foot school. The new Victor Mravlag Elementary School contains 20 instructional classrooms, administrative spaces, a gymnasium, a cafetorium, a science lab, a technology lab, a MIDI piano room, a music room and support spaces and accommodates nearly 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth. Originally, this project consisted of a partial demolition of the original school building, renovation of the remaining building and an addition of 65,000 square feet. However, upon the discovery of unforeseen structural deficiencies, it was determined that the best course of action was to demolish the entire building and construct a new replacement school. The SDA restarted the construction of this school in October 2011. The new school was completed and opened to students in September 2013. SDA served as the Construction Manager and Ernest Bock and Sons, Inc. was the General Contractor for this project. |
