The Shark River Hills Elementary School construction project added 9,685-square feet of space to the existing 39,630-square-foot one-story school. The addition enlarged the school to 29 classrooms to accommodate 375 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The project included eight new instructional areas, a full-court gymnasium and playground. Renovations included new ceilings and lighting, new classroom ventilators and air conditioning. Lighton Electric/ Lighton Industries began construction at this site in mid-January 2004. Completion of the project designed by SSP Architectural Group, Inc., was June 2005. This was the school’s second expansion in three years. Health and Safety work has also been done, with upgrades to the fire alarm system, emergency lighting and exit signage. On June 3, 2005 students, parents, teachers and community leaders today joined Neptune Township School District and New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) representatives to celebrate the Grand Opening of an addition and renovations. A dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting was followed by Open House tours of the new facility. The school was completed and fully occupied in September 2005. |
