Glenn D. Cunningham Early Childhood Center

The new early childhood center (ECC) is a full renovation of an existing commercial building located at the corner of Danforth and Ocean Avenues in the Greenville section of Jersey City.

The ECC is approximately 12,000 square feet with 15 classrooms and an interior Playroom. The Playroom’s roof is raised to include a clerestory for additional natural lighting for the space. The center provides educational opportunities for 75 three- and four-year-old students.

Designed by L+C Architects and built by Jeral Construction Services, this is the first facility of its kind to open in Jersey City.

On January 28, 2005, students, teachers and community supporters joined representatives of the Jersey City School District, the City of Jersey City, and New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Glenn D. Cunningham Early Childhood Center named for the late Mayor and State Senator.
