New Middle School #4 was constructed on a shared site with the new PS Elementary School #3. The site is approximately 5 ½ acres. The 166,000-square-foot facility consists of 44 classrooms and includes an auditorium wing, gymnasium/cafeteria wing and an educational/administrative wing. The facility accommodates grades 6 through 8 with a functional capacity of 810 students. The building was designed to provide a modern educational experience for the students and organizes the student population into smaller groups, accommodating one level on each floor. While Middle School 4 and PS3 are in close proximity to each other, the campus is landscaped throughout with active and passive recreational areas that offer students a variety of opportunities including outdoor classrooms, and open field, amphitheater, basketball courts and a separate outdoor Pre-K play area. Edwards & Kelcey Architectural & Design Services designed the project that was constructed by Terminal Construction Corporation. URS Corporation is the project management firm. The school was completed December 28, 2005 and occupied January 17, 2006. |
