The SDA’s Model Schools Initiative was developed to establish a consistent approach to the design of SDA school facilities projects. Through the use of defined materials and systems on projects, the SDA established a cost-effective approach that also helps to attain parity amongst SDA Districts. This effort also creates a means for SDA school facilities projects to be built in an educationally appropriate, sustainable, clean and environmentally friendly manner.
The SDA developed the Kit of Parts
to help implement the Model Schools approach. The Kit of Parts allows for consistency across designs for classrooms and other school facility spaces. The successful use of standardized components facilitates expedited design reviews and code inspections for faster delivery of school facilities projects.
The Kit of Parts addresses design considerations including the number and types of spaces needed in the facility, room educational specifications and fit-out, as well as component elements.
