School Facility Project: New Construction The 86,442-square-foot Phillipsburg Early Childhood Learning Center is constructed on an open, sloped 11-acre site on Center Street and Columbus Avenue. The Early Childhood Center is the first new school in Phillipsburg in over 25 years and will provide state-of-the-art educational opportunities for about 530 pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. The facility features a media center, cafetorium, gymnasium, indoor and outdoor play areas, 31 classrooms, six group instructional rooms, an art room, computer room, music room, special education classroom, nurse’s area, and support and administrative areas. The facility is a one-story steel frame with concrete block and brick enclosure, includes photovoltaic and ice storage systems. Design Resources Group Architects (DRG), Raritan, NJ designed the school project that was constructed by TAK Construction, Inc. Heery International, Inc. is the Project Management Firm. The school was dedicated January 22, 2006. |
