The site for the replacement Emerson Elementary School is located at the intersection of Emerson Avenue and East Third Street. The Architect selected for the design of this school was Johnson Jones of Princeton, New Jersey; TAK Construction was the general contractor. The concept of the new school is to provide a "community based" elementary school with shared specialized program spaces. The school consists of 24 classrooms, a gymnasium, cafetorium, media center and art room. The final design is 66,642 square feet, which accommodates a maximum of 437 students from kindergarten through grade 6. The project management firm for the project was Epic Management Construction. The construction phase started in the summer of 2006. The project was completed for a September 2008 opening. |
