This project consisted of all work required for the construction of a new Public School No. 28 to house grades pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. The total square footage is 119,200. The school capacity is approximately 750 students. The three-story building complements the existing architecture character of this area of the city. The school has 36 general classrooms, five special-education classrooms, three small-group instruction rooms, a media center/library, labs for computer technology, science and music, a cafeteria/auditorium, a regulation-sized gym and pre-school gym, athletic fields, parking, and recreational and assembly areas accessible to the community. The project was designed by Thomas Associates, of Princeton. Bovis Lend Lease managed it for the SDA. Bergen Engineering Company was the general contractor. The school opened to students December 15, 2008. |
