21st Century School Phase I of this project consisted of the construction of a replacement No.10 School located at the intersection of Fayette Street and Stockton Street. The Architect assumed for the design of this school was VITETTA of Philadelphia, PA. The concept of the new School No.10 is to provide an elementary school with shared specialized program spaces conveniently located within the school for access by both school attendees and residents of the community. Phase I was completed in April 2005. This new facility replacing former School No.10 was named after Dr. Herbert N. Richardson. The final design of the school is 110,000 square feet and accommodates a maximum of 801 pre-kindergarten through grade 4 students. The school facility includes 22 classrooms, 14 basic skills rooms, three special education rooms, six Kindergarten and three pre-Kindergarten rooms, a state-of-the-art media center, music room, art room, gymnasium, cafetorium and playground. Phase II of this project consisted of site redevelopment - demolition of the old school facility and a 10-classroom addition. Phase II was completed in the summer 2006. A formal dedication ceremony was held in October 2006. |
