A health and safety project was completed at the Franklin Elementary School in early 2003. Wu & Associates completed this work, after Garrison Architects designed the project. The project addressed several problems with the existing facility. The project included repairs to the existing masonry, and repairs to and replacement of the existing doors. New hardware was installed. Improvements were also made to the electrical system. New electrical panels were installed. New corridor and common area lighting was installed, along with new exit signs and emergency lights. The building’s heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system was updated. The existing asbestos was removed. At the time of its completion, the work on this school succeeded in bringing Franklin Elementary up to the latest codes for such facilities in New Jersey, and helped to provide an improved learning environment for Franklin’s 350 students. |
