The existing Columbus School plus other structures were demolished to make way for the new three-story, 121,505 square foot facility, which will house 705 kindergarten through 5th grade students. The building includes 39 general classrooms (revised from the original 36), special education spaces, two computer labs, one science demo lab, special instructional rooms, gymnatorium, cafeteria, kitchen, two elevators, play areas on the upper and lower roofs, and a below-grade parking garage for 46 vehicles including 2 H/C spaces. Demolition and construction began in September 2009. Construction was completed during the Summer of 2012 and the classroom areas and cafeteria were occupied in September 2012. Rivardo, Schnitzer, Capazzi, AIA were the Design Consultants, Epic Management, Inc. was the Project Management Firm and Chanree Construction Co., Inc. was the General Contractor. |
