New PS #3 was constructed on a shared site with the new Middle School #4. The site is approximately 5½ acres. PS #3 is an 114,000-square-foot school facility that includes 31 classrooms, an auditorium wing that provides an exciting performance venue for the students and their community, a gymnasium/cafeteria wing, and an educational/administrative wing. The school has a functional capacity of 576 students, and accommodates grade levels kindergarten through 5th grade. The new campus compliments the two separate schools with outdoor recreation space that the original school lacked. While the new Middle School 4 and PS3 are in close proximity to each other, the campus is landscaped with active and passive recreational areas that offer students a variety of opportunities including outdoor classrooms, an open field, amphitheater, basketball course and separate outdoor pre-K play area. Edwards & Kelcey Architectural & Design Services designed the new facility. The school was completed December 8, 2005 and occupied January 3, 2006. Terminal Construction Corporation built the facility; URS Corporation is the project management firm. |
