NOTE: The SDA, in cooperation with the Department of Education, conducted a review of all projects previously in the 2008 Capital Plan that were not yet in construction. These projects were closely evaluated using criteria such as educational need, cost efficiency and potential for design standardization. The 2011 Capital Program was reviewed and approved by the SDA Board of Directors on March 2, 2011. The SDA will continue to have ongoing conversations with the districts so that their projects may be able to advance in subsequent years. The 2008 Capital Plan for SDA Districts provided for a project at the Gladys Hillman-Jones Middle School consisting of a significant renovation and addition. Land was acquired and the buildings were demolished. Further discussions with the District concluded that advancing the full Gladys Hillman-Jones project now would not provide the most substantial benefit to the District for program delivery. As such, the scope of work has been updated to include site remediation, paving, curb and sidewalk improvements. Consequently, the District has requested funds be reallocated from this project to the West Side HS project. |
