NOTE: The SDA, in cooperation with the Department of Education, conducted a review of all projects previously in the 2008 Capital Plan that were not yet in construction. These projects were closely evaluated using criteria such as educational need, cost efficiency and potential for design standardization. This comprehensive review resulted in the Governor's recommendation to advance 10 projects in 2011, including Cherry Street Elementary School in Bridgeton. The 2011 Capital Program was reviewed and approved by the SDA Board of Directors on March 2, 2011. The new Cherry Street Elementary School consists of a kindergarten through 8th grade school on the site of the existing Cherry Street School. The facility will contain 32 classrooms including science labs, cafetorium, gymnasium, media center and required administration spaces. The existing school will remain in operation after the completion of construction to be used as swing space for future projects. |
