Description of Project: The Samuel Smith Elementary School was constructed in 1920 with an addition constructed in 1949. Health and Safety work has been completed at the school that included upgrades to the following systems: Emergency and Exit Lighting; Public Address System; Fire Resistant upgrades to Doors and Frames; Electric Panels; New Exhaust Fans; Fire Alarm and Asbestos Abatement. In addition to the Health and Safety work performed at this facility, a 15,444 square foot Early Childhood Center was opened in January 2003. The modularly constructed, twelve-classroom center is complete with barrier free bathrooms, sinks and built-in storage. The facility is capable of housing approximately 180 full-day pre-kindergarten students. |
