Description of Project:
This high school project consisted of a 49,982-square-foot expansion and 149,000-square-foot renovation of the existing school. The high school houses 800 students in 7th through 12th grades.

Interior renovations to the high school consisted of resizing and realigning 75% of the existing classrooms to meet educational adequacy requirements. The addition to the high school consisted of a media center, as well as classrooms, art rooms, computer rooms, and science rooms. Additional renovation work included expansion and renovation of the existing cafeteria and kitchen, and a complete renovation of the music wing with a small expansion in the instrumental room.

The entire building received new intercom and clock system, upgraded computer cabling, fire alarm, etc., replacement of all the existing windows to address life safety issues. The majority of the roof areas were revitalized as a direct impact of installing the new steel structure to support all new roof top Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning units. The athletic fields were upgraded, and parking and roadways were improved.

Work on the project progressed steadily and the newly renovated student cafeteria was opened at the start of the 2005-2006 school year. The new music room and renovated kitchen were completed in January 2006. Work on the media center is complete. Renovations to the existing classrooms in the wing near the main entrance were opened for students September 2008.

Montalto Massa designed the project. The General Contractor was Ernest Bock & Sons, Inc., and Hill International, Inc. was the project management firm.
