SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY HOLDS COMMUNITY INFORMATION SESSION ON
NEW WOODLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN PLAINFIELD

JANUARY 24, 2019 – PLAINFIELD, NJ – Committed to engaging in an open dialogue and encouraging community feedback, the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) hosted a Community Open House for community members and stakeholders to discuss construction of the new Woodland Elementary School in Plainfield.

The Community Open House provided parents, teachers, area residents, stakeholder groups, and businesses with an opportunity to learn about the project and the opportunities that it will provide for community members. Attendees heard from SDA CEO Lizette Delgado Polanco, city and school officials, viewed display boards to learn about plans for the new school and asked questions/provide feedback about the project.

"Schools are more than just places of learning, they are community gathering places, so it's important to the Schools Development Authority that we involve the community in the development of new school facility projects throughout the State," said Lizette Delgado Polanco, SDA CEO. "We look forward to continuing our ongoing dialogue with the Passaic community throughout the construction of the brand new, state-of-the-art Woodland Elementary School."

The new Woodland Elementary School will be a two-story, 121,000 square foot facility designed to educate 756 students in Kindergarten to 5th grade. The new school will serve as a replacement facility for both the existing Woodland Elementary School and the Cook Elementary School in the District. The project scope includes the demolition of the existing Woodland Elementary School.
