Pursuant to the 2011 Capital Program, the NJSDA has been developing plans to pursue standardization of all school facility construction projects. The NJSDA Model Schools Program was developed to establish a consistent approach to SDA school facilities project design. The effort accomplishes the goals of attaining parity amongst all SDA Districts by establishing a cost effective approach in constructing SDA school facilities projects requiring the repeated use of defined materials and systems. In doing so, the SDA will be able to provide more facilities for more students utilizing its limited resources. Standardization also establishes a means for SDA school facilities projects to be built in an educationally appropriate, sustainable, clean and environmentally friendly manner.
This section of the website provides access to the SDA resources for design. It includes sections on the SDA’s Materials and System Standards, the “Kit of Parts” presentation and the 21st Century Design Manual. Look for the 21st Century Design Manual to be updated in 2012.
