SDA Awards Contract for New Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School

Trenton, NJ (June 3, 2008) -The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) has awarded a $59,850,000 construction contract to Terminal Construction Corporation for the new Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School, which will provide 21st century educational opportunities for 1,092 students in 9th through 12th grades.

The new high school will allow the district to accommodate continuing increases in students in the district.

The 211,981-square-foot, two-story Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School will include 24 classrooms, three special education rooms, six science labs, two art rooms, two music rooms, four physical education stations, a library/media center, a drama room, a technology room, a gymnasium, an auxiliary gym, six playing fields and a cafeteria.

Construction is expected to get under way this summer. The building is scheduled to open to students in September 2010.

The construction contract was announced at the SDA meeting June 3. The project is designed by Faridy Veisz and Fraytak P.C. Architects. Greyhawk LLC is the project management firm.

The SDA is fully managing the project and funding approximately two-thirds of the construction cost, with the Greater Egg Harbor Regional District funding the balance. The SDA manages projects approved prior to the Authority’s August 2007 establishment in districts receiving 55 percent or more of their budget through state aid. Under the legislation establishing the SDA, newly proposed projects in such districts are managed and funded locally.

Overall, the Authority has completed 41 schools, 38 extensive renovations and additions, and nearly 400 health, safety and other projects in SDA Districts (formerly classified as Abbott Districts). In addition, it has completed four schools and 10 extensive renovations and additions in Regular Operating Districts (RODs).

The Authority has 25 active projects in SDA Districts and eight in RODs.
