Governor McGreevey Celebrates Two Years of School Construction Accomplishments
Returns to Cut Ribbon at Union City School Where He Broke Ground in 2002

Union City, NJ (September 28, 2004) – Governor James E. McGreevey today celebrated two years of accomplishments by the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) at a ribbon-cutting at the new Jose Marti Middle School in Union City.

When he began his Administration, Governor McGreevey promised to streamline the School Construction program, which had been bogged down in bureaucracy and red tape.  Shortly after he created the Schools Construction Corporation to accelerate the process, the Governor attended the groundbreaking of the Jose Marti Middle School.  Now, less than two years later, he returned to that same site to focus on how the SCC has been the catalyst for remarkable progress in building and renovating schools all across the state.
